Where does the time go!! Alex turned 16 yesterday December 21st however as we all know this is also the anniversary of his accident so a day of mixed feelings. As his mom, I am having a hard time coming to the realization that I have a 16 year old! I am also very grateful I know we have had a very hard year filled with a lot of challenges but we have also been blessed. We could have lost Alex last year and we didn’t, we have a lot of hardship ahead but we have also been blessed with good friends and family.
Yesterday, we kept Alex so busy he had not one opportunity to think My office team took Alex and Dawn out for lunch and we then took them volunteering with us for a few hours. There is nothing like helping others to get your mind off your own issues. Then we as a family all got together for a nice dinner at his favorite restaurant. Jackson flew in yesterday afternoon as well so Alex is in heaven!! He had a moment on the way home last night from dinner where he said he was very excited for Christmas, some days he can’t believe it’s only been a year and other times it feels like yesterday.
Again we are very grateful for everything everyone has done for our family this year. God Bless and Merry Christmas!! Please hug your loved ones a little tighter and PLEASE in these hard times remember there is always someone who has less, go out and fill a shelf or buy a toy it’s the little things that count I promise .
